Have not found any post on brake fluid recommendations for the SRF, are there to avoid?

We use Motorcraft High Performance DOT 3 brake fluid. Comes in a 12 oz bottle, available at local Ford dealer.

I use Motul. It's probably overkill unless you are on a closed street circuit or some other bullring with uber-braking, but it's never failed me and that fact is worth its weight in gold when it comes to brakes, imo.

I use Valvoline Synthetic. I think it has great specs for the money. I think that keeping the brake fluid fresh is more important than the fluid used - that way you don't have to be too concerned with the "wet" boiling point.

I agree keep it fresh. I stopped using a silicone blend when it returned to crystal, due to a prolonged storage, had to replace everything. Some of the older English cars required a fluid that would not swell the seals, allowing complet return of the caliper piston and less friction on rotor when the brake is released. Just wondering.

Agreed on frequent bleeding of brakes to keep the fluid fresh. Part of my pre-race prep is to bleed mine after every weekend, and I have not (knock on wood) ever had an issue ever with fading brakes.

I used to agree with the "fresh is best" method. I used DOT 4, and bled every weekend - at that price, who cares? Then Denny (a.k.a. brake killer) drove my car and boiled the fluid the first time out. Motul flush fixed it. Dang, that stuff is pricey! I probably bleed every 3 weekends now.

I use some stuff a motorcycle racer hooked me up with years ago. Not all that expensive, and works real good...

It's so easy to flush/bleed these brakes, there's no reason not to do it (at least a good bleed) before each race weekend. Imagine my surprise (after years of driving a 944) that I could bleed the calipers without removing the wheels, with the car on the ground!
Try that on any production car. |

I recently tried using the MityVac for brake bleeding and it was a huge disappointment. Maybe I was using it wrong or something . I have been looking at trying the Motive Products Power Bleeder but I wanted to ask if anyone else has tried this product before I pull the trigger on another disappointing product. Thanks for help.
