I'm replacing an old style inner tripod can with the new style. The new style has a wire spring clip to retain the bearing inside the can. Seems like a bit of a PITA to get that clip in after greasing. I noticed that the Kanga Motorsports write-up doesn't mention removing or installing the clip.

Do you guys put the clip in or leave it out?
It's hard to picture how the bearing would pull-out of the can after everything is put together.

I just rebuilt several of these and did not have any spring clips installed
I would suggest that should the tripod get pulled out that your normal suspension settings may be slightly askew due to some unplanned high speed high impact unfortunate event. In which case I doubt that the spring retaining clip will be of much value in lowering your repair cost. It's better to be last on the grid at a race track, than have pole position at the Funeral Home.
