Correction to my previous post, I would end with around 2 gallons in a gen2. Most people should know there Gen2 weights and can compare to their Gen3. In my case it is 1675 (Gen2 post race) -14 (2gallons)-10 (ballast) - 210 (me) = 1441 vs 1582 (Gen3 post race)- 7(1gallon)- 210 = 1365. This is a difference of 76 lbs. Same calculation with Bills data is 1430 vs 1321 which is right at 90 lbs. Really not too far off considering the number variables involved. Using the higher of the two, we'd take Bill's 90lbs off of our previous minimum and we'd have 1580. I think most people I've talked to would be happy with the 1580 minimum.

Ran my new Gen3 today at Thompson. I used to come in 95-100 over in the Gen2. Today, with maybe an extra gallon fuel (than normal), I came in 104 over. I am for an increase in the minimum weight.

More weight = slower car negating some of the gains of the new motor.

Weighed my Gen3 at Daytona - full of fuel - I was in street clothes - car was 1581. I weigh low 180s. So car with full fuel was just under 1400. Bodywork is pretty light. Old style upper control arms. Fuel cell panel not installed. No weight plates.

Ran today, and after a 25min race, weighed 1666, 106 over. I see a lot of numbers here that seem like the new number is too low, and think it needs to be raised. Enzo, car is plenty fast sitting at 1666 - 2 seconds faster with 1:20 time. Fun car, sounds great, was too loud (same at NHMS), so we definitely need to get the updated muffler. Also, I had idle issues all weekend, car didn't want to stay running. Also, I think we will be burning up some clutches, takes a lot of effort to get the car going from a start.

Mike D is working on the idle issue. Two weeks ago I had new mapping downloaded by my CSR at the track which improved the idle, but there is still some work to do. At the end of the day Elite downloaded my info from my ECU to send back to Mike for analysis. As far as the clutch I personalty didn't notice much difference on launch with the new clutch/flywheel combo. Ya a little touchy, but way way way better than a lot of other classes I have seen on the false grid. I think getting the idle issue fixed will go a long way to improving any clutch release issue, if any that I had. The clutch for me was a non-issue.

There was some extensive tire testing (for 2016) going on with the Gen3s at VIR last weekend. I'm sure we'll get a full report when the decision has been made. But I think it's safe to say that we are going to have an improvement over current tires. (2:05 at VIR ) Lots to look forward to.

The 2:05's at VIR were on Pirelli's in the first two morning sessions. (no wind and cooler air. There was also more potential.) On Sunday a set of 4 cycle 2015 Goodyear's got into the 2:07's with more potential.
I came across the scale each day at 1554 (218 lb driver). So I am in favor of leaving the weight at 1560. Tray
