New to SCCA racing and Spec Racer Ford. Been lurking here for a bit. I saw that lots of people on here are from the San Francisco Region so I thought I would introduce myself before my first race this weekend (Thunderhill 16-18 May). A little bit of my background I have been doing track days for a few years with my 240z and then decided to do a Skip Barber race school last December. Unfortunately I couldn’t attend the SCCA license school this year due to work commitments. But after attending a few events talking to lots of people I finally had some time on my hands to do a SRF track day. I definitely have lots to learn as you can see by the video highlights: http://vimeo.com/94912177
I'll be renting this year and wanted to introduce myself to the fantastic community. There have already been lots of welcoming people with tips, hints and advice. I am really looking forward to my first race and meeting everyone. My plan is to just try and learn as much as I can and slowly build up my feel for the car and hopefully over time improve my pace. Advice and tips are greatly appreciated especially for the first qualifying/race.
Looking forward to seeing you all at the track. For Thunderhill I'll be in car #46 in white.
James

Welcome! This will be a good weekend to get started. A medium-sized field and nice weather.
We will have #5, #6, and #95. #6 and #95 are both new this year. Let us know if you need anything! Dave Dave Harriman

Hi James, I'll be in the CSR Performance paddock area, so let me know if you have any questions. Happy to do some drive-around with you on the test day, if you're interested.

Thanks for all the welcome messages.
Dave, Yeah looking forward to it. I just looked at the entrants should be great. Glad Ric had a car available. Ill be running with Jack's car at Laguna Seca thanks for the contact. Bob, I have been watching some of your videos on vimeo. I'd love to learn what I can from you. I'd like to take you up on your offer. Jerry, Thanks part of the reason why I picked SRF was because of the great community. |

Thank you all. I had a fantastic first weekend with a small field and excellent weather. Really appreciate all the help and tips from everyone I was able to shave 4 seconds off my lap times and get into the 2:10s. The lead follows with Bob and Rich really helped. Had two great races with some passing. First race went from 20th to 16th and the second race went from 16th to 14th due to some retirements.
Really enjoyed meeting everyone such a great group of people. Ill see you at Laguna in a few weeks!. |
