Dave, I would love to see if you have the specs on the pump.

We don't have a spec sheet, but my associate called Kinsler a while back when we were checking out some fuel pumps. According to his notes, the pump has a capacity of approx. 30 lbs. an hour @40 psi.

Anybody care to do the math?

Dave

OK, check my math because this doesn't make sense.

Gasoline weighs about 6.3 lbs/gal, therefore:

30 lbs/hour * 1 gal/6.3 lbs * 128 oz/ 1 gal * 1 hour/ 3600 secs * 30 secs = 5.1 oz / 30 secs

5.1 oz in 30 secs seems way low.

All I have is his notes, I'll have to check with him, maybe I am misreading, because when we talked about it is seemed like it was more like 20 oz.

OOOPS... I meant 130 lbs / hour... Mistyped above...

If my math is right, 130 lbs. per hour is 22 oz. per 30 sec.

There we go: 130 lbs/hour is 22 oz / 30 secs.

If that's the case, then only a perfectly "in spec" pump will make the Enterprises delivery spec. No tolerance at all for wear and deterioration. Seems pretty strict.

Thanks Joel, I will certainly do that, I am off to try and get the cell out of the car today.

Very good advice Steve, I meet MD @ the NJMP National last year and he was very helpful with my first race in SRF.

Careful with removing hoses from the cell,, don't let the fittings turn on the cell,, only the hose itself.

Joel, so I had a little time and I have the cell unhooked from the motor side and I have the seat out and the panel off from the inside of the car. Does the cell just slide out from here? After disconnecting the black large filler hose from the outside of the cell, do I need to remove the filler neck plate ( oval or round one?) as well to remove the cell?

Thanks!
