I'd appreciate tips on how to get the GEAR parameter from the ECU to appear on the on the canbus stream. I'm using an Aim MXL2 and currently using a math channel to report calculated gear position, but would like to update to the direct approach.
Thanks in advance.

Jisu, did you ever get your AimSports Display to show the gear position? Doug

Yes I did.
I needed to update the ECU definition on RaceStudio to make GEAR available as a selectable parameter. It was straightforward after that. Reverse still appears as a 9 on the MXL2. |

Jisu,
Can you explain in detail how you did that? I had talked to a guy at AIM and got something that wasn't exactly what I wanted and it doesn't work most of the time. His solution was to calculate the gear number by using speed and rpm but that doesn't work for finding neutral and reverse when stopped. |

2. Selection the Configuration menu icon (second from left, looks like gears) 3. Select your configuration file for your MXL2 4. Select ECU Stream (second from left) 5. You should see 13 channels. Missing is the 14 channel SRF GEAR 6. Select Change ECU 7. Select SCCA Enterprises in the Manufacturer Column 9. Select Spec Racer Ford GEN3 (v 00.00.01) and OK Good luck |

I almost forgot the last step which is to transmit the modification configuration back to the MXL2.

Thanks for your help, Jisu
I haven't loaded this to the MXL2 on the car but was able to add the 14th channel and it automatically set to SRF Gear in Race Studio which I couldn't do before. I'm so happy. Elliott |

Jisu,
THe next day I uploaded the data and IT WORKS. With all the hassle I went through with the "help" from other sources that didn't work, your recommendations worked great. Easy to understand, easy to do and most of all Success. I live in the Phoenix area so it is not a great time to test right now. But in a week or two I'm going to brave the heat and head down to The Podium club to run the car. I don't expect much difference, I can kinda feel what gear I'm in while driving but am not good at finding Reverse or Neutral and this will help a great deal. |

I'm glad it worked. I'm just paying forward assistance that I received from Charlie Moschel.
