Hi, I'm looking to flush out the coolant system in my car. Any tips on how to go about doing this? Also, what is the capacity of the system?
Thanks!
Bill

For most of us, they are self-flushing due to impact.

I just did this to both my cars, one Steve's way, the other because I discovered a TON of rust in the system. I followed the directions on the Mumm brothers site ( http://www.mummbrothers.com/SRF_Stuff/S ... g_fill.htm ) and have had no issues so far.
As far as "flushing" goes, I just rolled the car that still held all it's fluids in place out, uncapped the radiator and ran a garden hose through it until it was clean, capped it, filled it, ran it for a bit and repeated the process until I was satisfied I had all the sediment out of the system. I've used Tide/baking soda to clean out very rusty street car systems before with mixed results, and I would guess that would work if you've got a very dirty engine/system on an SRF just as well. |
Thanks Chris!
