My car does not have a hose from the NACA duct to the oil cooler. Last week the water temp was at 191 and the oil at 231. Nothing appeared to be in a run away condition. The temperature was at max in the first full lap probably, and stayed consistant until cool down.

Should the temperatures be closer. Should I be doing something to make the oil cooler more effective?

No opinions on oil temperature versus water temperature?

In cool temps (remember, I'm from Texas so that's sub-90 for me), I generally run in the range of 200 water temp, 215-220 oil temp.
My car has always run a bit on the warm side though compared to others.

We have seen cars that don't run a hose from the duct. But it seems like you'd want to leave the square duct off the cooler, too.

Where did you install your oil temp sensor? We have one car with the gauge, but the driver never seems to remember what the temp was. [:)] We have a sensor to install on one of our cars with data acq, been trying to decide where to measure it...

It is in the fitting where the oil goes in to the oil cooler. So this is the hot side of the oil cooler
