Every year someone from our community runs in one or both of the races this weekend.

Who's racing this year?

Who's going to crew / watch?

My brother Phil will be in a Porsche GT3 running with Truspeed. Yellow paint scheme I believe. Grand Am website has a picture of the car if you find the Truspeed link under "Teams". Phil started his racing career in SRF back in the late 90's, but gravitated to open wheel stuff (Star Mazda, ect) and more recently to the GT3 car as you all know, from his Austin trip during F1 weekend in November. North Left Coasters going to the race at Auto Club Speedway this weekend will be watching the race from there.

I'm heading over early tomorrow - our region (Central Florida) staffs the course for the Rolex 24, Sebring 12, and St Pete GP using workers from all over the world.

SRFer Ken Reilly will be there again, crewing for Jon and Sherri Mirachi's Racers Edge team -- a GT Mazda RX-8 in the 24, and two Gran Sport Mustangs in the Continental Tire Series. And, of course, Jon and Sherri "graduated" to Grand-Am pro racing after years fielding Spec Racers out of their shops.

Bj Zacharias will be running in the Continental GS series in a Nissan, former Spec Racer in Cen Div. He should be very competitive.

Add in Jon Bennett - former SRFer and now owner of CORE Motorsports - he had a DP entered that he co-drove. Paul Tracy was one of his drivers and crashed out of the event.

Also - Adam Burrows in Continental Challenge ST.

When I saw Tracy was going to be on a team I wondered why anyone who hoped to finish the race would hire him.
