Steve, yes I did. There will be ample opportunity to share I believe.
Rod, you don't want to meet Steve, and you most certainly do not want to know what sordid activity he had to interrupt in order to register <shudders>. ____________

That was crazy

If you were thinking about registering, do it now. Like right now.
Currently there are 89 SRF's with 4 cars showing as double-registered. Max on track is 85. I don't know if SCCA can rescind supps and issue an exception for this event. We'll see. What an event! ____________

The race steward can increase the number of cars allowed on course....after 85 cars and counting, who is going to notice 5-10 more? My first trip to Road America was for this Summer's June Sprints and going into turn 5 four cars abreast was...educational. Definitely holding off on new paint until after COTA.
I included the rules for 6.4.3 below. Would also make sense to allow an oversubscribed qualifying session(s), and then pare the field back if all the field didn't make the 120% rule. GCR 6.4.1 B: Maximum Number of Cars allowed on Course A maximum of 25 cars per mile may be on the course or started simultaneously in any type of session. The Division’s Executive Steward may increase or decrease the 25 car limitation for any or all race groups. 6.4.2 Establishing the Race Grid E. Each driver/car combination must qualify within 120% of the qualifying time of the fastest qualifier in his class to be allowed to start his race. The Chief Steward may waive this requirement and may allow non-qualifiers to grid behind qualifiers. 6.4.3 Qualifying for Oversubscribed Classes When the number of cars entered into a single class race group exceeds the maximum number of cars per mile, the following qualifying procedures apply: A. The class is split into 2 qualifying groups. B. The grid is determined according to 6.4.2 |
Per Roger Krebs' memo of Jan 14.
I have mentioned that we will load the track per the GCR. This will be the first time ever that that many cars will be on that track. Because of this being everyone’s first time; entries will be limited to the GCR specific 25 cars per mile. 85 entries per group is the limit, no exceptions. |
