Since there are alot of new people, and it's been awhile since anything posted on the virtual racing side, I would just like to let everyone know/remind everyone that we have a SCCA based league that runs on Tuesday evenings. We are currently between seasons, and will be setting up some test/fun sessions on Tuesdays until the next season starts on 31 JAN.
This league requires either SCCA membership or a donation to the SCCA Foundation to support various motorsports efforts of the SCCA.
We are also broadcast on YouTube every week, so races can be viewed by family and friends thanks to our real world racing partners and friends.
For the SRF, Spec Racer Sports , the CSR from Houston area sponsors the group. The MX5(SM) group is sponsored by Grassroots Motorsports Magazine. And Alliance Autosport has sponsored the formula car efforts with the F4 previously.
We do not require a minimum iracing license, but those without a D license (Rookie) will be monitored and on probation. This allows those who use simulators for training, but don't use the Iracing official racing system.
The format of our league looks like this:
We run 3 classes, and have 2 races per week, on a rotation bases. A season is 9 weeks in length so each class gets 6 races for a championship. The 10th week is our version of the Runoffs, with all 3 classes racing that Tuesday. Group 1 practice starts at 7:40pm EST, and Group 2 at 8:25pm. When the race for group 1 ends, there is time to jump into qual for group 2 and race both races each week if you desire.
Sessions are 75min of practice, 15 min open Qual, and a 20 min race. Bonus points are awarded for 0 and 1 incident races. Drive thru penalty at 12 incident pts, and DQ at 20.
Many of our racers are real world racers, or crew, or workers, so everyone is pretty familiar with racecraft, etc.
To round out the SCCA feel, the races are announced by SCCA announcer, and newly announced Super Tour announcer Gregg Ginsberg along with an Apex Racing TV announcer.
We currently have a few real world SRF racers and would love to welcome more. Check us out. Feel free to give a shout for any info.
