Just got to thinking the other day - once the restrictions are lifted, there are gonna be a lot of folks who will need an annual at their first race. I'm trying to imagine the chaos that will ensue, and praying that we will not have lost any of our valuable workers.

I brought this up to the Chicago Region specifically for the June Sprints. Most of us in the Northern part of the country haven't run yet, and my guess is for at least half of the 230 entries, it will be the first race of the year since all other race events have been canceled that precede the Sprints. I'm going to check with one tech guy that is local if he can do my car ahead of time. We usually have a day ahead of the season to get our cars teched, but that was canceled.

Usually the first race of the year around here, the tech guys go around the paddock to the SRF folks that are usually all near each other and do a bunch of inspections at once on the test day. Doesn't have to take very long and it's way faster than having everyone drive through the scales.

All,

SCCA is cognizant of this issue along with others such as the license renewal requirement for medical and number of races.

They are working on solutions to avoid the problem you mention.

Unfortunately, we seem to have time before the first race - wherever that is.

Another smart option.....befriend your region tech workers. I know people who have had guys come out and tech their cars at the shop or homes or something.

San Francisco Region has a traveling Tech and is also looking at waiving some annuals that only recently expired still waiting to hear full official policy on it yet though.

Okay. It looks like our Annuals have been extended another 3 months past the original expiration date. This should help if we can go back to racing next month.
