Just letting you know registration is open for our June 9-10 Double PDX / Track Trials weekend at the brand new Tilke-designed Atlanta Motorsports Park in Dawsonville GA. Links to the Supps, Schedule(s), track info, and registration system can be found at the Atlanta Region website: www.AtlantaSCCA.org.

A couple of important items about this event:

1. Due to local ordinance, the sound limit for this track is 95 db, and since the track runs counter clockwise sound will be taken from driver's right. Anything over 95 db and you'll get black-flagged. We understand this can cause a hardship for some cars (myself included) so if you're unable to get under the limit after repeated attempts we'll refund all but $50 of your entry fee (to cover insurance & such).

2. Road racers are certainly welcome to participate and the "new" TT format gives you an excellent opportunity to learn the new track prior to our race weekend on Aug. 4-5. If the event is oversubscribed, however, priority will be given to those that have run at least one SEDiv TT event in the past two years.

3. On Saturday there will be a concurrent Solo event going on with the PDX/TT, so this is one of the few weekends both subsets of our SCCA membership will be in the same place at the same time. This is a fairly unique opportunity to come out and see that the "other guys" are just as intense about their competition as you are, then Saturday evening we'll have a combined social for those of all persuasions (Solo, racer, worker).

Let me know if you have questions, and I hope to see y'all at the track...

You can run street cars in the PDX sessions, but to run the TT sessions you'll need at least a roll bar and full driver's safety gear.

Essentially the only difference between the PDX sessions and TT sessions (both have passing in limited areas with a point-by) is we don't take lap times for the PDX participants. It is a "Performance Driving eXperience" to give drivers a chance to drive with enthusiasm in a controlled environment, not a competition event. Novice PDX drivers are also required to have an instructor ride along, but I'm pretty sure we'll be able to approve you to run by yourself, John. :D
