Rumor has it that Scott Rettich has broken Spicer's (10 year old!) lap record at Summit Point. Old record was 124:268. Impressive.

I wish I could be there (watching or racing). Maybe next year.

It was my understanding that you can only set a record during a race. Am I wrong?

No, Enzo, you're not wrong, but he did reset the record to, I think, 123.8/123.9 or thereabouts in the race today...he's just flat out FAST! I HATE racers like that....

1:23 high at Summit is amazing. I'd love to see the data. I'm trying to get into the 1:25s. :(

As Richards tow from his old record lap (I beleive I was like a tenth off) that's pretty damn fast around there. We had great conditions that weekend. Sounds like the track was fast as 9 other records including the overall lap record were broken. I guess a DSR did a 1.06 and some change? That's stink fast.

Remember rolling off the grid that weekend for Q1, and it was ~38 deg. F (early April, & group 1 ?)...at least I was bright enough to keep out of the way of Trevor & Richard...but yeah, it was stupid fast that weekend. Now they're in the 23's ? Yikes. New 1:06 record was CSR...Jean-Luc won CSR, but 2nd place Steve Forrer set the lap record.

Trevor - you ever get your GT-1 lap record certificate from the Glen ? Remember you asking about it...sorta remember chasing somebody around about it...lemme know....

No John, kind of a moot point, some chick with a huge motor beat it a few years later....It was more to throw in my old mans face that I went 4 seconds faster than he ever went there....

(sigh)

The Glen's SCCA lap records listed an SRF lap for some guy named "Richard Spica" for ~5 years....never got that fixed, either...just had to wait until somebody (Derek) went a little faster.

(sigh again)
