By this time next year I'm sure with a better setup you can find another 200 rpms. Might have to petition Mike D for another 100 or 200 rpms on the red line!

Is Gen3 eligible for runoffs next year? That will be entertaining.

Not only is the SRF3 Runoffs bound at Daytona, we have rather strongly asked they confirm that the SRF and SRF3 will not run together...so we can have some folks race both (I know of 5 considering the double) and so we don't get a SRF on pole doing 140+...with a SRF3 needing a new nose after qualifying!! :)
We control our own destiny, as long as our grids are too big to share a group we get two races, but with the chance for Spec Racer drivers to run two races, they need to know before they plan schedules.

Erik,

Not wanting to be a party pooper but separate run groups is up in the air. We (BoD) are not going to mandate separate SRF/SRF3 run groups at Majors so drivers wanting a crack at both championships may have to run a lot of races to meet their participation and points requirements for each class.

Also at this time there is *no* commitment for separate run groups at 2015-16-17 Runoffs. Any decision to do so would likely depend heavily on class participation thru the year(s) and guestimated Runoffs entries (first pass at schedule and proposed run groups is usually circulated internally in July!). That's a Club Racing staff decision in consultation with CRB. It's entirely possible 2015 could be split start (fewer SRF3 vs SRF) 2016 could be the swing year with separate races, and 2017 back to split start (majority SRF3 vs fewer SRF). I don't know, your guess is as good as mine.

This (BoD micromanagement of Runoffs run groups) is not something I have seen BoD do in my tenure so don't expect this in rule making as it likely depends on entry numbers and track length. Bottom line however, it is a crap shoot and there are no promises.

Regards,

Todd Butler

Hopefully the BoD can make a preliminary decision on the RunOffs schedule by the end of July. I should have my GEN3 qualified for the RunOffs by then. There are enough Majors races near me in August that I could then make a decision to try and qualify the GEN2 to run as well.

What would be a comparable speed in a Gen2 at Daytona?

Best I've seen documented is 137 mph - that was bump drafting from the chicane around to T1. The 145.9 in the Gen3 was without bump drafting. My best guess is that in equivalent conditions a Gen2 SRF would be at 133 to 134.
