Also remember the weight is lower which reduces the kinetic energy (KE = 1/2 x Mass x Velocity Squared). All trade-offs.

Also remember the original SR was 1,580# (same as gen 3) and 120 mph max - fastest I remember on a radar gun was 119 at the dip at Road Atlanta) so compare 120 mph to 150 mph - 56% increase in KE.

So maybe some consideration should be given to strengthening the chassis and safety components.

Clay - I don't even want to think about hitting something solid at 145 mph. :o

However, the norm, based on what we're seeing at places like Sebring, is 4 or 5 mph higher speeds at the end of straigths and corner speeds only very slightly higher. The Gen3 gets to 100mph considerably faster than the Gen2 but above that point the acceleration is modest.

The SRF has proven to be pretty safe even though it is faster than the SR. I don't feel much more at risk in the Gen3 (except maybe at Daytona) but that's just my feeling - it doesn't really have any science behind it.
