In the Central Division, SRF normally has its own run group though on three occasions in the last two years we have been grouped with formula cars from FV through FA.

In the MidWest Division, they group SRF with FP, HP, and GTL.

Great Lakes Division sometimes runs SRF as a standalone and sometimes runs with FP, HP, or SM.

Personally, if I can't run in an SRF-only group I'd rather run with small-bore production cars.

We are going to pay them off you block you when you try and lap them. :)

You missed the big news, Bob. They are going to let us run as "SR"s again, this time in Group 2. (the crazy formula group). The pace car wins most of their races...

Guess a little drama will keep things from getting too boring ;-)

Putting SR in group 2 seems in line with the thinking that put "SR" with GT1s last time they tried this! At least when you get run into by a car going 160mph, it won't outweigh you by 2x (think I'll pass...!)

I think I have the answer, create 6 run groups and allow all the IT(blahblah)/SM cars to run 6 times in a weekend instead of only 2 or 3 times. That should help the "cash flow"...

Tony as a board member please remember that entrants will vote with their money. I hope that the board's decision to add production sedans with low slung sports racers works out. The anouncement said we will have split starts which will help with the race but qualifying will be another problem. I can see having a qualifying session messed up because an E30 driver. At a minimum it will increase the number of cars participating in the pre-pre-grid crap. With the lap time differential the E30 guys will never get a full race and be nothing more than moving chicanes. I all had to start at sometime and I get it...and don't get me started on the region's pandering to SM.

I have to think the region isn't exactly "pandering" to SM when it's 50+ cars at each weekend. While I'm definitely not thrilled to share a run group, on the other hand, the SRF car counts have been pretty thin, and at least we're sharing it with a group that isn't heavily run -- so in reality we've given up very little to still virtually have our own run group. I could think of worse refactorings of groups.

Sadly, I can't plan on helping out the car counts in 2012 :(

Don't get me started -- again! -- on stupid, dangerous race groupings like this.

There's always the new "Feedback" application on the SFR web site: http://www.sfrscca.org

Everybody notice there is an option to "vote" (multiple times, apparently :D).

Vote early, vote often.

Having a run group all to ourselves is definitely the way to go. However, with race entries (including our own SRF group) diminishing, I understand that the region has to make difficult choices. Maybe they could have made a better choice of who would run with us, but if the number of SRF group entries continue to decline every year we should not expect to run alone. The best way to get our own run group back, is to have more SRF entries.
