I just yanked out my calculator and ran the numbers and it appears that the 1.6 might be a about 10% more thirsty than the 1.9. (Again, I'm assuming a 20-minute test session length at CoTA.)

Mark - I bought my first (owned 12 or 13 thru the years) SR in April, 1985 - it was chassis #22 - had been raced in 1984 at the Detroit Grand Prix and was owned by the Jim Averett the CSR at that time - cost $9,500. I was out of the SCCA from 2002-2008. And I am now 63.6 years of age.

Test day sessions were 30 minutes (Although at least one had a red flag on Wed.)

We have quite a few very active drivers in the "over 60" Masters category. Maybe we really should talk about a Masters Division within SRF.

Four more years before I can join you and Feno in the Geezer thing. Sorry I wasn't active last season, producing raw materials for "Fick's House of Smash & Glass". Maybe this year, if the planets align. Mostly a problem of "no time to play".

Gen3 car...can't wait to see one. Will there be one out east this spring ? Didn't get much of a chance to talk to Erik at the convention...

Wow, if it's 30-minute test sessions at CoTA, then the fuel mileage is really good. That comes to about 13 minutes per gallon on a track that I can reasonably compare to The Glen regarding WOT time.

At The Glen, my car gets roughly 9.4 - 9.7 minutes run time per gallon.

So, the question to Mike is -- did you burn 2.3 gallons for full 30-minute runs at racing speed?

Lee and Clay: I like the Masters Division idea! Or maybe (hint, hint Erik) get a senior discount for the changeover; AARP 10%, something to think about Erik. :) Clay, I bought mine #244 new in June '85, built it and have owned and raced it continuously since (lucky life). Raced in Detroit in '86 only Pro race. Road Atlanta Runoffs '88. Been having fun every year - now 61 years young. Can't wait for this changeover! Mr. Walsh, I need your "push" this season - hope to see you out there!
Will the or one of the Gen 3 cars be at the Glen Nationals, Mike, this July?

If you want to compare apples, limes, and tomatoes... At TWS a couple years back I ran a 2:01.6 w/ 82% time on full throttle, and at CoTA last Wednesday I ran a 2:41.8 w/ 75% time on full throttle. No idea how much time the Gen3 spends at full throttle running laps at CoTA, but that might tell you a little something about the nature of the track. Those are just average test laps from the middle of the pack on my ~5 year old engine. If you like spreadsheets maybe you can make something out of that :-)
