Checking my Gen 3 filter this weekend it's getting pretty cruddy (after several rain sessions and about 10 hours of track time). Noticed that it's described as "reusable", but no further information on the process or materials needed. This looks a lot like a K&N filter, so can I use one of their cleaning kits or is there another recommended process to clean and re-oil the filter?

Bob, I used to washout my K&N go kart filters with simple green and then blew them dry with an air hose. Worked great.

I did as well, plus sprayed them with oil since that's what provides the finer particle filtering.

Was anybody able to find out more about this topic???

Just an FYI. The K&N filter cleaning kit for my old truck warned not to use compressed air to dry it as it could damage the structure of the filter. I always left it sitting in the sun until dry before I re-oiled it.

This is what it says on the Airaid website for their cleaning kits. (www,airaid.com) Note, it says oiling is not necessary with the SynthaMax® Filter. i am not sure what we have in our kits. Mike or Erik, feel free to jump in here with some advise.

I called Airaid and talked to customer support. The filter in our kit does require oiling when cleaned. Their cleaning kits are $19.99 including cleaner and oil.

I would caution against using an oiled air filter. I started using K&N filter on my Lotus Elise a few years back. Recently the car wouldn't idle. After doing some research I pulled the MAF sensor. Covered with black oily residue. Same for the IAC. Full of black oily gunk. Cleaning both seems to have fixed the problem. The only oily thing upstream of these two parts would be that K&N filter.
