EVO4 Initial Set Up

My EVO4 does not seem to be hooking up to the Gen3 ECU (for instance, no rpms register). I have the CAN + and CAN - hooked up to the correct wires on the EVO4 cable. Is there something more I need to do?

Did you put a 100-120 ohm resistor between the + and - connections to terminate the CAN-BUS?

I assume you've configured through the AIM software the ECU configuration to use the new SCCA-Enterprises / Gen3 ECU definition and downloaded to the EVO4...

I do have the cable with the resister installed. Turns out, however, I had to re-download RaceStudio2 to get the new SCCA-Enterprises / Gen3 ECU software. Downloaded and reading. Thanks for the software hint.

Where exactly in the circuit does the resistor get connected? Just anywhere between the Can+ and Can- wires?

It was built into the cable assembly in my system which interfaced with the ECU, so that same basic area should work.

I added the resistor across the + / - cables between the pins in the connector that I built out on the AIM MXL side. As Dave noted, if you buy the pre-built cable from Veracity, it's already built in.

My .02, just buy the cable. It's not cheap, but it's plug and play from what I've heard. I had Tony at SSR install my Gen3 with my Evo4 and he had never messed with any AIM system before and it fired right up from what I recall.

For those using the AIM Evo 4 system, where did you mount the data logger itself?

I mounted mine on the pedal cross member on my gen2. As I build my gen3, it will either stay there or move next to the ecu on the left side. I like the pedal bracket, as I can easily get to it with the nose off, and is a dryer location. I also use the binder caps to cover the sockets I don't use...

The cable supplied with the G dash seems kind of short. Not sure it would reach a location on the left side near the Gen3 ECU, for example. Is there some kind of extension cable? Or do you get one of the CAN extension hubs and use that?
