Hi everyone,
Don't forget to circle your calendars for the 2010 edition of the I.T.SPEC*tacular at Mid Ohio July 31-Aug 1st. Same format as last year with PDX on Friday and and evening Test&Tune. This year we are back to the Club course for the entire weekend.
Best Regards,
Todd Cholmondeley Cincy Race Chair

Once again Steel City is up against it at BeaveRun.
In 2008 they had 40 entrants because Mid-O pulled them all (9-10 Aug) In 2009 they screwed the pooch again. (1-2 Aug) And this year when do you think they scheduled it???...Yep (31 July-1 Aug)
Sucks because I like the track and it's in my back yard. Also...I'm a Steel City member.
But the I.T. Fest is one of the best races all year |

Yes it does seem counter productive. I don't know how easy it is to change track dates at Beaver Run, it may be as impossible as Mid Ohio.

3 years in a row... You would think that they (we) would learn. BeaveRun only has 2 SCCA events a year and Steel City hosts them both. And they don't have the $ to be making mistakes like this.
There is a quad regional on Sep 25-26 and I think they will do very well there. |

We'll be running a formula car group including Formula Continental this year so you probably won't have James Winslow driving away from the field in SRF. Unless of course he wants to settle the score with Dave Schacht. |

Hi everybody,
I thought I'd Update everyone on the prices for the I.T.SPEC*tacular weekend July 30th-August 1st 2010 at Mid Ohio. Entry for 1 driver, 2 days went up $10 and I had to raise the garages up $10. Its the best I could do since all the prices went up at Mid Ohio. But on the bright side in honor of the 25th anniversary of Spec Racer Ford the compliance fee is on us! Also we are now an official Great Lakes Division Champ Series event.
July 30th PDX Member................$210 Non-Member............$225 Instructor Driving....$50 Evening Test and Tune.$150
Race Weekend Garages 1 door....$60 2 door....$120
Race Entry 1 driver, 2 days...$335 Run a second class.$125 example ITA/STU 1 driver,1 day.....$275 2 days, 2 drivers, 1 car....$375 No Compliance FEE for SRF in honor of the 25th anniversary!
Registration should be open 5/28/2010
Best Regards,

Hi everyone,
I've got some great news! And No this is not an April Fools joke.
I'm excited to announce for the first time in the History of SCCA regional races at Mid Ohio we will be starting all races on from the pro starter stand on the back straight! That means you will have three opportunities to dive into turn seven with the pack while gritting your teeth.
The start stand will be just that. Start only. All other important information, restarts and finish will be done at the Main Stand on the pit straight. The pace car will peel off into the pits and the pole sitting car will be responsible for pacing the field around to the pro start. The first lap starts once you cross the transponder loop on the pit straight without the pace car so your first lap is going to be a bit long. The first lap is complete once you hit the loop again.
Race Groups
1 SM, SSM 2 ITB, ITS, ITR 3 SRF, EP, FP, HP, GTL 4 ITA, IT7, ITC 5 FF, CFF, FC, CFC, FE, FM 6 ITE, AS, STO, STU
Registration should be open on motorsportsreg around the end of May
Best Regards,
Todd Cholmondeley Cincinnati Region SCCA |

Twilight test and tune to do practice starts Good News! The Mid Ohio twilight Test and Tune will be doing at least one practice start per run group. This will give those who haven't started at the pro start stand a chance to see how it works before the real thing.
Also the I.T.SPEC*tacular web page is up at www.cincyscca.com I'll be building on it over the next few weeks. So check it out.

Win-or-spin!
I'll be there |

Well at least you won't have to try in the Pinto this year. |

Well... In ITB you can legally run a 1971 Pinto with a stock gas tank.
I didn't but...Yes...
I do know one guy that until last year did
He said that the Pinto was costing him too much... Now he is running an ITB Metro (as in Geo Metro)
And yes....KA-BOOM
[edit] Oh yes...He doesn't use a HANS and does not have a built in fire system. |

I.T.SPEC*tacular update!
For those of you who have gotten the Grassroots Mag for June be sure to check out the advertisement for the I.T.SPEC*tacular.
Goodyear Tires will be represented again this year by Competition West. Contact Mike Knox, MikeKnox@Competitiontire.com to pre-order your race tires.
Race planning is ahead of schedule this year so we will be opening up on-line registration on the 18th of May. I know a lot of drivers are involved with various races around Memorial day so just a reminder that you can register on-line without paying immediately. If you do plan on getting a garage I would not hesitate to get your order in early.
Best Regards,
Todd |

I.T.SPEC*tacular update. 42 entries (6 SRF). The Cincinnati Region is throwing a little more incentive in with multiple chances to win a 2011 entry for the 5th anniversary. We are going to raffle off 1 entry for every 25 this year.
So your chances are winning are 1 in 25. Not bad odds.
